Feeling Powerless
I'm doing a Bible Study with my Grandma. My youngest daughter & I pick my Grandmother up each week & drive to her church. It has been an incredible blessing for all 3 of us. We are studying Beth Moore, David - Seeking a Heart Like His, updated version. Here's what I am learning...
Many dreadful results can happen from unchecked feelings of powerlessness. We can't trust our feelings. We must entrust our feelings to God.
God has not forgotten. He sees our battles. He is gathering your tears & blotting your head. He knows who is treating you unfairly & when you're about to give up or give in. Keep telling Him. Stay in His Word. Keep claiming His promises. God assured David over & over. Even though David messed up a LOT & let conflict cloud his calling.
We never need to despair. We must stand in God's Word when the battles get tough & resist temptation to panic. David's most obvious problem was that he felt so powerless & out of control in one area that he went into over-control, destructive in another. We also can be guilty of our own version of overkill.
Here are two verses to encourage you today:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." - Galatians 6:9-10 NIV
"So if you find life difficult because you're doing what God said, take it in stride. Trust him. He knows what he's doing, and he'll keep on doing it." - 1 Peter 4:19 The Message
"For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people"
-1 Peter 2:15 NIV
