11th Wedding Anniversary

Do you know the traditional 11th wedding anniversary gift? Neither did I till I googled.
It's steel. Yes, you heard right, steel. Who came up with this one? I mean they didn't have steel appliances back in the day. I do not want anything steel for my anniversary. This must have been a man's idea.
I mean think of all the tools made of steel...
The modern 11th wedding anniversary gift suggestion is jewelry. Now that I can understand. Who wouldn't want a little bling for her anniversary? Tiffany's suggests this little beauty for a mere $10,000 anniversary gift...

If you have any great, creative, fun anniversary gift ideas for my husband please share. He has every tool known to man. He wouldn't appreciate a new, steel appliance. What's a girl to do?!

  3. What a pretty blog you have. And, happy anniversary!

I thought this post was very interesting because I actually think that steel is one of the best materials in the world.

It's tough, holds up for years, and lots of cool things are made of steel: cars, jewelry boxes, appliances (although he doesn't want this), cuff links, home decor, art, watches, bbq grills and cookware, etc, etc. I just love the look.

As for that little Tiffany's creation...I saw one almost identical at De Beers Diamonds in Miami last week. It had a price tag of $98,000.

Oh yes! I tried it on. And, I took a visual picture of it on my hand...because that picture is as close as I'll ever get!

So tell your husband that the Tiffany's ring is a bargain!

Now, what was I doing in De Beers? Dreaming about my 13th anniversary - the "Lace Anniversary". No, I don't know what lace and diamonds have to do with one another...it's a definite stretch!

So, here's the skinny on traditional gifts (according to Emily Post), you don't have to give the actual material for it to be a traditional anniversary gift. You can give something of the same color or a gift that's inspired by the material.

Thank goodness, right! So, silver and white gold jewelry might be just the perfect thing for your husband to give to you. If he goes with steel, perhaps a stainless watch is the ticket (I love the one I received for my anniversary).

As for a gift for him, I have a unique suggestion. They are "love rocks". Yes, it sounds strange now that I see it in writing, but they're really cool. They are steel-colored stones with love messages on them. They're very inexpensive and you can find them at:

Also, it's obvious that your adore you hubby. I love mine too! I once wrote out 365 reasons that I love him. I printed them all out and put them in a jar. I actually posted all 365 love notes at: http://www.themed-party-ideas.com/365-love-notes.html

Most of the love notes are personal (not too personal for publishing, of course.) I published them because it's actually really difficult to do and I wanted to inspire other people to do it. It's a labor of love and a marriage strengthening exercise. The first 100 are easy, then you start to dig deeply.

This makes a great anniversary gift (for your 11th anniversary, or any anniversary). My husband LOVED it. The best part of the gift however was that with each note I wrote I loved him just a little more.

It goes without saying that you can't purchase this gift...you are the only person who can give it. And, you'll be surprised at how it endears you to your husband.

    Again, happy anniversary!
