I have some great ideas for summer with kids. We love swimming but last year tried some creek hoping her in Ok. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteHello, Six. So nice to put a voice with the face! Cool V-Log. You'd never guess it was your first.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is, Lawn Darts are pretty fun. That'll keep them hopping all summer long!
HEYYYYY BESTIE!!!! Your first vlog was AMAZEBALLS! Look how cute you were! And you gave me lots of shout outs and I'm a sucker for shout outs!!!
ReplyDeleteI like how LBB calls you Six. He's funny.
I love flip flop exchanges. I really wanted to do one but I'm out of state at the outlaws....or inlaws. Whatev. So the one that I saw had to be mailed off while we were gone. The nearest post office is forever away because I'm in the middle of NO WHERE.
Ideas for summer: Send them on a picnic for the day so you can have a day all to yourself.
I'M KIDDING!
Obvious choices: zoo, a park with the little water thingy's, museum, playing in the yard with sprinklers (super fun with a trampoline), the $2 matinee. Ok, so I'm new to this mommy stuff and I'm out of ideas. I'm sure a more experienced mommy will have a WONDERFUL idea for you.
Check out the kids bowl free program. I think the one here in Owasso is part of the program. If not, look it up on google maybe? I know there are some alleys in Tulsa for sure that are offering free bowling for the kids!
ReplyDeleteUtilize your time in the summer to teach your kids things w/o them even realize you are being "educational." Tricky I know but here are some ideas. 1. Get them some nature notebooks. Any sketch book will do, although you can actually purchase nature notebooks which have a space for a sketch at the top and a place to write observations or a little journal at the bottom under the illustration. 2. Take backpacks with snacks, plenty of WATER and your nature notebooks along with nice colored pencils and take nature walks. During the walk stop and have a seat in the shade and have them sketch something. They can even sketch things at home in the backyard or whatever. These books become treasured keepsakes and the associated activities with mom become treasured memories. 2. Read some "living" books. Here is a list which contains a lot of my favs to get you started: http://ignitethefire.com/favoritebooks.html 3. Do what I call "strewing." Put fun things like world maps and US maps an state maps under a plastic cloth on the kitchen table (or get laminated maps at Mardells) and talk about all of the places and the people who live there. Pray for the people in those places or missionaries you might know of in those locations. Leave cool history related or science related books on end tables or the coffee table. Have some educational games around. Get some interesting educational DVDs to leave around. I am telling you on those long, hot days when no one wants to go outside.. they will naturally pick them up to explore and by summer's end they will know a lot about all of these things! :) Gee.. I may just write up a blog post with even more ideas like these! :D All of these educational activities disguised as fun and merriment will earn you "Mom of the Summer" for sure!!! :)
ReplyDeleteValerie at My Crafty Wonderland did a poster of their "Summer Bucket List." Don't know if she put it on her blog but it was on FB. I thought it was GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteMine will each participate in a day camp at some point this summer. They love it!
We will be trying to get to some of the free summer movies this summer and bowling at Andy B's. Join us!
Uh, hmmmm..... Seriously?!?! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOkay, cute vlog. You did a great job with your first one. I shall try it some time.
My plans for summer are whatever your plans for summer are. Bwahahaha!
