Rainbow Adventures
Have you ever been swept up in anything? I mean swept up, caught up, CONSUMED in something bigger than you? When that happens you lose sight of your surroundings. You lose your bearings. Has that ever happened to you on the "inside"? To the point where on the "outside" you look perfectly normal, however if someone took an x-ray they would be amazed at what was going on in your heart, mind & soul?
Life on this earth gets messy. And I'm not talking a few toys strewn about & dishes in the sink. I'm talkin' ground in dirt that needs a little scrubbing to get out.
I'm being consumed by some spiritual scrubbing. My questions have led to more unanswered questions. Yet one message has remained crystal clear...
Have you ever noticed that God often requires us to leave our comfort zones to answer our calling? Gen 12:1
What "calling" you ask? I know! I asked the same thing! We all have one. Yes ALL of us. Well if you consider yourself a Believer in Christ. Check out Romans 8:30. A few teachers call it an "adventure". An adventure is a cute little way to push you out of those familiar places, i.e. "comfort zones".
This scrubbing thing, this "adventure" if you will, is sometimes a lonely, hard place. The Lord has been preparing my heart for all this fun. I just was not ready for the pain.
Last week kids were studying the letter 'N' so one of the people we studied was Noah. And wouldn't ya know it he was in my bible study as well. Interesting how I get the same message over & over. Surely it is because of my easy going, flexible nature ; )
Anyhoo... the thing that stands out about Noah is he walked in constant relationship w/the Lord. He didn't just take his family to church on Sundays & mid-week & pray when it was convenient or when in crisis. Noah was in fellowship w/God. A purposeful act. A choice. Even during the crazy adventure the Lord sent Noah on he didn't waiver. Noah even received an awesome rainbow at the end of his adventure! "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Gen 9:16
So surely I can handle my lil' adventure huh?! I'm working on it ; ) I'm choosing daily whom I serve. Trying to keep my focus on Him not the left or right or a friend's opinion or another friend's idea.
You may see or talk to me & I seem normal, maybe a little "off". Just remember I'm being scrubbed on the inside so give me some mercy ; ) I'm trying not to waiver, to enjoy this adventure, to see my lil' world from His perspective.
"Pay attention to the ministry you have received in the Lord, so that you can accomplish it"
Col 4:17
